The Maimu Fabric Collection 2022
Pallas UAS, Estonia
Supervised by Marju Roos & Kairi Lentsius
The Maimu Collection was born from a desire to create something cosy and close to nature—fabrics and garments that suit our cold climate while feeling warm and homely, yet playful and contemporary.
At the heart of the collection is the material itself. The fabric collection is crafted from locally sourced, naturally toned, semi-worsted wool yarn. In northern climates, wool has always held a place of honour for its warmth and versatility. What fascinates me about wool is not only its practicality but also its mischievous character, which leads to exciting discoveries and truly unique results.
Building on the fabric collection, an eight-piece fashion collection was created. The focus is on playful silhouettes and bell sleeves. Each garment is multifunctional, designed for both everyday wear and special occasions. The pieces are reversible, offering versatility, and they balance warmth and elasticity with a light and airy feel.
